Loyola at a Glance
Winner selected for Loyola's Krewe of Tucks Instagram contest
February 22, 2013
This year’s Mardi Gras celebration featured Loyola University New Orleans’ first-ever float in the Krewe of Tucks parade. The float, celebrating the university’s centennial, was also candidly captured by students, alumni and others in Loyola’s Krewe of Tucks Instagram contest.
Newcomer to New Orleans Cheryl Manley won the contest with her Instagram photo of the Loyola float rounding Canal Street. Her photo will appear as the cover photo for the University Facebook page and is featured on the Loyola website homepage. Manley also won tickets to the Alumni Reunion Cocktail Reception at The Cannery May 11. Follow @Loyola_NOLA on Instagram to see the other photo entries for #TucksLoyno.
The Loyola float’s central feature was an iconic rendering of Marquette Hall. The three-level float carried a band of Loyola alumni, family, faculty and staff merry makers. Loyola’s dance team and cheerleaders were also part of the Krewe of Tucks parade, marching along with the float. The float was designed and constructed by Blaine Kern Studios.
