Tip Off Challenge heads into overtime
February 15, 2013
The Tip Off Challenge—the off-the-court game of Jesuit pride and bragging rights between Loyola University New Orleans and Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala.—was tied 57-57 when regulation ended Sunday. The two schools are now in the middle of a highly contested overtime matchup to see who can garner the most donations by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17.
Every donation made at giving.loyno.edu counts toward Loyola’s score, no matter if it’s a three-pointer for the Loyola Fund or a slam dunk for the library. Continue to track the score and view the fun and interactive messages posted on social media sites including Loyola’s Facebook and Twitter. Participate with Instagram by sharing photos of the Loyola community or athletic events using the #TipOffChallenge hashtag.
To make things interesting, a friendly bet was made between the schools. A picture of the winning school’s mascot with the losing school’s coaches will be posted on each organization’s social media sites.
“We are grateful Loyola’s alumni have been so generous. I hope we can continue the momentum and win this thing in overtime,” said Chris Wiseman, Ph.D., Loyola associate vice president for development. “Coach Mike Giorlando is a good friend of mine, and I can assure everyone he has no desire to lose and then have to appear in a photo with a Spring Hill Badger. Coach Gio runs only with the Wolf Pack, and we want to keep it that way.”
