Loyola celebrates Christmas with two musical events
November 16, 2012
Loyola University New Orleans will celebrate the Christmas season with two musical events Sunday, Dec. 2. Singing with Santa, a Christmas sing-along for the Loyola community, will take place in the Danna Student Center’s St. Charles Room at 12:30 p.m. Afterwards, the public is invited to Christmas at Loyola, an annual Christmas concert held at Holy Name of Jesus Church at 3 p.m.
Singing with Santa will feature the Porta-Puppet Players in a fun magical show, and the children are invited to a sing-along with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa will be in attendance to lead caroling of holiday favorites at the piano while children decorate Christmas cookies and a professional photographer takes family portraits. The cost is $10 per family, which includes one family photo, refreshments and all activities. Advanced registration is available at alumni.loyno.edu/santa12.
The annual Christmas at Loyola musical celebration has been a popular tradition for 20 years. The concert showcases several Loyola ensembles, including the Loyola Chamber Orchestra directed by Jean Montès, D.M.A., Loyola Chorale and Chamber Singers directed by Meg Frazier, D.M.A. and the Loyola Brass Ensemble directed by Nick Volz. The concert features a mix of classical Christmas music and a Christmas carol sing-along. Christmas at Loyola is free and open to the public.
Free parking is available in Loyola’s West Road Garage, located on West Road and accessible from St. Charles Ave.
