Student expo brings local businesses, free food, drinks and music to campus

Loyola University New Orleans Student Media is hosting a fall expo showcasing local businesses and featuring free food, drinks, product samples and live music Thursday, Nov. 15 from 12:30-2 p.m. in the Peace Quad. Award-winning student band Liquid Peace Revolution, a student body-voted favorite on Wolf Magazine’s Loyola Favorite’s Survey, will play at the expo.
The expo is the brainchild of The Loyola Maroon business office. This event serves to help local business clients who support Loyola’s student media directly market to students through samples, information and conversation. The event “gives back to the student body for making The Maroon what it has become,” said Maggie King, a Loyola senior and PR/marketing manager for The Maroon. “Without our contributors and readers, we would not have our beloved newspaper, magazine and website that we have today.” There will also be a booth with Maroon newsroom staff to talk to students interested in contributing as writers or getting involved in the student newspaper.
Local businesses participating in the expo include Fresco Cafe, 1st Lake Properties, New York Life Insurance, Dat Dog, Loyola Dining Services and the Crescent City Bartending School. Fresco and Loyola Dining Services will be giving out free food samples and the Crescent City Bartending School will be giving out free beer to students over 21 years old. Dat Dog will give out free hot dogs.
