Tom Varisco documents Jackson Square in new book
October 26, 2012
“Does anyone else smell beignets?” Loyola University New Orleans instructor Tom Varisco has published a new book, “Jackson Squared,” with Chin Music Press from Seattle. The book is a funny and irreverent celebration of one of America’s most famous destinations—Jackson Square in New Orleans. The first book signing is set for Nov. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Octavia Books, 513 Octavia Street in New Orleans. John Biguenet, the Robert Hunter Distinguished University Professor at Loyola, wrote the forward for the book.
Varisco’s book documents the heart of the French Quarter with funny, surprising and sometimes shocking pictures by Varisco and photographers Will Crocker and Jackson Hill. It also includes essays by Biguenet, John Carr, Nicole Biguenet Pedersen and Susan Sarver.
