Loyola opera workshop presents 'Oktoberfest: Opera's Greatest Drinking Songs'

The opera program at Loyola University New Orleans will present its fall workshop, “Oktoberfest: Opera’s Greatest Drinking Songs,” on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium in Monroe Hall.

The program will feature songs from Verdi’s “La Traviata,” Puccini’s “La Rondine,” Lehar’s “The Merry Widow” and Offenbach’s “La Périchole,” among others. Former Loyola Opera Theatre director David Morelock will return as stage director, opera/vocal coach Carol Rausch will once again take on the role of music director and pianist. Laura Zambrano, Loyola Ballet director, will serve as choreographer.

Tickets are $8 for general admission and free for Loyola faculty, staff and students. Tickets are available online at www.montage.loyno.edu or by calling 504-865-2074, and will also be available at the door 30 minutes prior to the performance.
