Jerusalem String Quartet offers free masterclass at Loyola

The New Orleans Friends of Music will present the Jerusalem String Quartet in a free masterclass at Loyola University New Orleans Thursday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Calhoun Street. The event is open to the public.
The Jerusalem String Quartet is acclaimed throughout the world, and its concerts earned multiple enthusiastic reviews. The quartet has played in many major European cities. During 2011-12, it toured the United Kingdom with an all-Schumann program. Recorded exclusively by Harmonia Mundi, the quartet’s discs have won numerous awards, including the 2010 BBC Music Magazine Award and the Diapason d’Or.
New Orleans Friends of Music is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the performance and appreciation of fine chamber music. The Jerusalem String Quartet will open the Friends of Music 2012-13 season Oct. 17 with a concert in Dixon Hall at Tulane University.
