Biever Guest Lecture Series features prominent social theorist

The Biever Guest Lectures Series at Loyola University New Orleans will feature Stanley Aronowitz, Ph.D., eminent social theorist, in three lectures next month. All three events are free and open to the public.
Aronowitz will discuss issues raised in his new book, “Taking It Big: C. Wright Mills and the Making of Political Intellectuals,” on Friday, Oct. 5 from 2 – 4 p.m. in Seminar Room 4 of the J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library.
On Saturday, Oct. 6, Aronowitz will lead the discussion, “What's Next? Beyond the Limits of Protest and Resistance," from 2 – 4 p.m. in Seminar Room 4 of the Monroe Library.
Finally, he will present the public lecture, "Class Rules: An Analysis of the American Class System,” on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium in Monroe Hall.
Aronowitz is revered as one of the premier social theorists in the United States. He is a distinguished professor of sociology and urban education at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where he has taught since 1983. He is a specialist in labor, social movements, science and technology, education, social theory and cultural studies, and is also director of the Center for the Study of Culture, Technology and Work at the Graduate Center. A widely-published author, Aronowitz is the founding editor of the journal Social Text and co-founder of Situations: Project of the Radical Imagination.
