Preparatory arts program launches Musikgarten classes
September 14, 2012
The Preparatory Arts Program at Loyola University New Orleans will begin offering Musikgarten classes for children later this month. A free preview class will be held tomorrow, Sept. 15 from 9 - 9:45 a.m. in room 204 of the Communications/Music Complex on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Calhoun Street. The full eight-week fall session begins on Sept. 22 and runs through Nov. 10.
Taught by Helen Myers ’88, the classes are for children ages birth and up and will meet each Saturday from 9 - 9:45 a.m.
According to Myers, children are naturally drawn to music. By engaging them in music classes at an early age, they gain an advantage on their musical development. Musikgarten is the leader in early childhood music education and encompasses musical, physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth.
