Biology students discuss summer research at SCORE symposium
July 27, 2012
Loyola University New Orleans will host the annual Summer Collaborative Outreach and Research Experience mini-symposium on Friday, August 3 at 9 a.m. in Monroe Hall, Room 127.
During the event, 17 natural science undergraduates and two high school teachers will describe the results of research they have been conducting with nine different faculty mentors. Research projects this summer examined a variety of topics, ranging from population genetics of Mississippi River delta reeds to inflammatory joint disease in humans.
SCORE is part of an interdisciplinary and experiential approach to strengthen recruitment, retention and training in natural sciences in post-Katrina New Orleans. Support for SCORE is provided by the Louisiana Board of Regents.
