Alumni land feature spot on television bridal series

Stephanie Hilferty '07, an alumna from the English department at Loyola University New Orleans, and her husband, Michael Lillis, J.D. '10, will be one of three New Orleans couples appearing on the hit television show, "Randy to the Rescue," airing on TLC on Friday, June 29 at 9 p.m. C.S.T.

New DNP nursing scholarships to aid students serving veterans, military

The School of Nursing at Loyola University New Orleans was recently awarded two $10,000 scholarships designated for Doctor of Nursing Practice students currently working with the U.S. Armed Forces and the Office of Veterans Affairs. Awarded by the Jonas Veterans Healthcare Program, the scholarships will be funded through the 2014 academic year.

Alumnus, celebrated jazz pianist to perform at inaugural Alumni College

Loyola University New Orleans alumnus and noted jazz pianist Matt Lemmler '90 will return to campus to perform a special concert with the New Orleans Jazz Revival Ensemble, featuring guitarist Steve Masakowski, bassist James Singleton and drummer Geoff Clapp, on Saturday, June 23 at 7 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium in Monroe Hall.

Louisiana Small Business Development Center offers financing seminar

The Louisiana Small Business Development Center Greater New Orleans Region, housed in the Loyola University New Orleans College of Business, will co-host the seminar, "Angel & Early Seed Financing: Seed Investing for Entrepreneurs," on Thursday, June 28 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the UNO Jefferson Center, located at 3330 N. Causeway Blvd., Suite 447, in Metairie, La.

Loyola hosts jazz, art summer camps

In July, the College of Music and Fine Arts at Loyola University New Orleans will host two summer camps devoted to the arts. The 18th annual Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp will run its three-week term from July 2 - 20, and the art history-based KidsArt camp will run from July 9 - 20.

Loyola loses long-time teacher and beloved priest Father Fagin

Heavy hearts are on the campus of Loyola University New Orleans after the loss of Gerald "Jerry" Matthew Fagin, S.J., who died June 14 at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer. Fagin, a member of the New Orleans Province of the Society of Jesus, taught theology and spirituality at Loyola for 33 years, was a Jesuit for 55 years and a priest for 43 years.
