Student affairs VP selected as board member for multiple educational organizations

M.L. “Cissy” Petty, Ph.D., vice president for the Office of Student Affairs at Loyola University New Orleans, was recently elected as a board member to several organizations that will assist her in the advancement and development of student affairs and higher education in her office.
At the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators conference in Phoenix, Ariz., Petty was elected as an executive board member of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program. NUFP is a semi-structured mentoring program for undergraduate students who wish to explore and better understand the field of student affairs and/or higher education. Specifically, Petty will work with the NUFP board to establish a strategic plan to achieve NUFP’s mission and goals. She will serve a term of two years and may serve an additional two years with approval from the NUFP board chair.
Additionally, Petty was also selected to serve as a member of the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice Editorial Board for the 2012–15 term. JSARP’s mission is to develop research documents that academically enrich the perspective of student affairs in higher education.
At the annual American College Personnel Association conference in Louisville, Ky., Petty was invited to be a member of the Institutional Leadership Council Implementation Team. The team is charged with establishing avenues for senior student affairs officers to collaborate and provide institution-specific professional development guidance. She was also invited to renew her three-year membership on the ACPA Books and Media Editorial Board.
