Loyola University New Orleans Magazine gets face-lift, new website
March 9, 2012
A new century, a new look. That is the philosophy the Office of Marketing and Communications took when its staff decided to redesign the Loyola University New Orleans Magazine in honor of the university’s centennial. Serving as the flagship publication of the university, the magazine is mailed to alumni, parents of current students, and friends of the university, and copies are distributed to faculty and staff via Campus Mail.
Beginning with the spring issue, which focuses on the university’s centennial and which was mailed on March 5, the magazine, renamed LOYNO based on feedback from the Alumni Association, features a clean, modern design with more story-driven content.
“The magazine’s mission is to tell stories about Loyola alumni, students, faculty, and staff,” says Director of Editorial Services Ray Willhoft ’00. “We feel the new design will allow us to present those stories in an appealing fashion, as well as allow us to offer more informative content that can be useful to readers such as tips from our faculty and highlights about events happening in New Orleans.”
Publications Manager Mary Degnan ’90, M.S. ’09 created the new design, with input from the Office of Publications staff.
In addition, a new magazine website (magazine.loyno.edu) was recently launched and serves as a companion piece to the print issue. The website also features new online-exclusive content that will be posted each month. Readers are able to comment on the magazine content and participate in monthly polls, and alumni are able to submit their updates for Wolftracks, as well submit their own stories for possible inclusion in the magazine.
“One of our goals is to help alumni reconnect with the university,” says Willhoft. “So, we want to make sure they are a part of the magazine experience.”
