Mass Communication director named to Leadership Louisiana

January 20, 2012

Loyola University New Orleans School of Mass Communication director Sonya Duhé, Ph.D., has been selected for inclusion in Leadership Louisiana, sponsored by the Council for a Better Louisiana. The nationally-recognized, civic-minded program was created to enhance the capacity of emerging or current leaders from across the state.

The goal of the program is to foster the elements of leadership needed to shape the long-term vision of Louisiana communities; turn shifting economies into advantages, and build on strengths and areas of excellence while continuing efforts to address chronic issues. The year-long program is designed to provide graduates with a renewed commitment to their communities and state and with access to strategic information, intellectual resources and a vast network of talented and successful individuals.

“You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution. To be included as part of the solution, and to represent Loyola in such a fashion is an honor, and it makes me feel great to know that we will be contributing to the resurgence of our great state,” Duhé said.

Louisiana Leadership provides participants two-day workshops every other month and focuses on topics including education and workforce training, the economy and strategies for growth, history and politics, news media, arts and culture, criminal justice, healthcare and poverty.
