Prominent advertising executive, alumnus to hold workshops at Loyola
January 6, 2012
Advertising executive Reid Steinberg ’94, currently the senior vice president and director of broadcast at ICON International, returns to Loyola University New Orleans School of Mass Communication next week to lecture and conduct interactive workshops with Loyola advertising students. Steinberg’s workshops, titled “State of the Industry, Media Planning, Buying & Sales” and “Case Studies & Project” will be Jan. 12 and 13, from 12:30 – 2 p.m. in the Communications/Music Complex, with Thursday’s session held in Room 301, while Friday’s will take place in Studio A. The sessions are free and open to the public, but organizers are asking all those interested in attending to RSVP.
Steinberg oversees a broadcast media group of 80 people and continues to log extensive experience in formulating creative, integrated media programs for high-profile clients, such as the award-winning Mazda 6 ESPN launch campaign. Steinberg said the passion he has for his work began while studying at Loyola.
“I have always had a love for TV and the broadcast business,” Steinberg said. “I studied marketing and advertising at Loyola and right out of school wanted to go into media buying/research. I’m glad to be able to come back, hold some workshops and give students the insight into what the advertising field is really all about.”
"We are always thrilled that our alumni feel so connected that they want to return home to the university and give back,” said SMC director Sonya Duhé, Ph.D. “Reid is an extremely successful communications executive at a very high level. Our students are going to hear about the reality of the advertising field, what works and what doesn’t and how to prepare to enter a highly competitive and demanding field.”
