Theatre department holds open auditions for spring performances
December 2, 2011
The Loyola University Department of Theatre Arts and Dance will hold auditions for spring performances on Monday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. in Marquette Theater. Auditions are open to all Loyola students, and callbacks will be Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. in Marquette Theater.
The first production, Jane Martin’s “Anton in Show Business,” runs Feb. 8 – 12, with rehearsals beginning Jan. 9. Students interested in auditioning must present a 60 – 90 second monologue from a play other than “Anton.” No self-written monologues, poems or other pieces will be accepted.
The second production, William Shakespeare’s “All’s Well That Ends Well,” runs March 16 – 21, with rehearsals beginning Jan. 26. In order to audition, students must prepare a one-minute Shakespearean monologue similar to a character in “All’s Well That Ends Well,” but not from the show itself. Singers should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo song to be sung a cappella.
Students can audition for one or both performances. Additional information is posted on the callboard on the third floor of Marquette Hall.
