Student production company screens brass band documentary at Loyola
November 11, 2011
GetInforumed, a student-run production company rooted in Loyola University New Orleans’ music industry department, has partnered with Red Bull to premier the New Orleans-set documentary, “Red Bull Street Kings,” on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. in Nunemaker Hall.
Filmed in 2010, “Red Bull Street Kings” follows four New Orleans brass bands, Free Agents, The Stooges, To Be Continued, and Soul Rebels, as they march through Tremé for a battle of the bands under the Claiborne Bridge. The competition is intended to showcase the next generation of brass bands, and the film illustrates the impact brass bands have had and continue to have on American and international music, from rock, to country, to hip hop and more.
"We are excited to give our community an opportunity to experience real New Orleans music and the people who make it," said event managers and Loyola students Ethan Rosenberg and Lukas Cox.
