Montage Series features Mozart's Requiem, chamber music and jazz

Loyola University New Orleans’ Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series presents a week of chamber music, jazz and choral concerts in Roussel Performance Hall in November. All events are free and open to the public.
On Sunday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m., the Loyola University Chorus and Chamber Orchestra will perform Mozart’s enigmatic composition, “Requiem.” At 7:30 p.m., Loyola’s jazz bands will take center stage in a concert featuring songs by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Thad Jones and Tom Davis.
On Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Loyola’s notable Faculty Chamber Ensemble will perform Johannes Brahm’s "String Quartet in A Minor" and Edward Elgar’s "Piano Quintet in A Minor, op. 84." Performers include faculty members Yui Asano, piano; Rachel Jordan, violin; Bruce Owen, viola; Allen Nisbet, cello; and Amy Thiaville, violin.
The Loyola Wind Ensemble will perform selections by Col. John Bourgeois '90, H'05, Percy Grainger, Sergei Prokofiev and Alexander Glazunnouv on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. They will be joined by more than 40 local high school student musicians in three selections by director of bands Joseph Hebert '63, Ph.D., and guest conductor Bourgeois. At 7:30 p.m., the Loyola Chamber Orchestra, directed by Jean Montès, D.M.A., will perform.
On Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m., the Loyola Concert Band, directed by David Rosenthal and featuring guest conductor Bourgeois, will perform a concert featuring selections by Bourgeois, Antonin Dvorák, John Halvorsen, Arthur Sullivan and Malcolm Arnold.
During these events, free parking is available in the West Road Garage located on West Road and accessible from St. Charles Avenue.
