Loyola Brass Society hosts jazz concert, masterclasses

Loyola University New Orleans’ Brass Society is hosting a series of free masterclasses and a jazz concert this weekend. The virtuosic Brooklyn Brass Quintet will perform tonight, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Calhoun Street.
In addition to the performance, the quintet will offer a series of masterclasses. Tomorrow, Oct. 29, the group will offer instrument-specific classes from 9:30 – 11 a.m. in the Communications/Music Complex. Class locations are: trumpets, Room 240; trombone, Room 230; horns, Room 223; and tuba, Room 237. All members of the quintet are active performers in the New York music scene and serve on various faculties, including Hunter College and New York University.
All events are open to the public and were made possible through funding from Loyola’s Student Government Association.
