Alumnus appointed acting city attorney

Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s executive counsel, Richard Cortizas, J.D. ’02, was appointed acting city attorney and head of the law department for the city of New Orleans.
Cortizas was most recently an attorney in the Business & Finance Practice Group of the Jones Walker Law firm. He focused his practice on the representation of clients in transactional matters.
Cortizas replaces Nannette Jolivette-Brown, J.D., LL.M., former visiting assistant clinical professor at Loyola University New Orleans in the College of Law’s Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice, following her recent confirmation for a federal judgeship in the eastern district of Louisiana.
