Loyola Theatre presents a fresh new vision of Godspell
October 14, 2011
The Department of Theatre Arts and Dance at Loyola University New Orleans presents a fresh production of the musical “Godspell,” celebrating the show’s 40th anniversary of opening on Broadway. The musical will run in Loyola’s Marquette Theater on Nov. 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 6 at 2 p.m.
Directed by theatre arts professor C. Patrick Gendusa, the story of Jesus gets a modern twist in this contemporary production of the classic musical based on the Gospel according to Matthew.
Featuring a score by Stephen Schwartz, "Godspell" boasts a string of well-loved songs, including the chart-topping hit, "Day By Day." The parables of Jesus Christ come to life as the cast performs such well known songs as "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side."
