Student Affairs VP elected president-elect of JASPA
August 26, 2011
M.L. “Cissy” Petty, Ph.D., vice president for Student Affairs at Loyola University New Orleans, has been elected as the president-elect of the Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators. Petty will assume the role of president in March 2012 and will serve until spring 2014.
The president’s role is a three-part commitment: president-elect, president and past-president. The president represents JASPA and acts as a liaison officer with the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and other professional student affairs organizations; serves as chair of the JASPA executive board; and presides at the annual business meeting of JASPA.
“I am so honored that my Jesuit Student Affairs colleagues have confidence in my abilities to support and foster Jesuit education,” said Petty. “I am delighted to accept this role.”
JASPA was founded in 1954 as part of the AJCU and its members represent the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S., and affiliate members from other institutions. The primary purpose of the Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators is to discuss, identify, and promote principles and practices applicable in the area of student affairs in Jesuit colleges and universities.
