Men's cross country and track welcomes 16 new student athletes
July 15, 2011
Loyola University New Orleans head cross country and track coach Andy Canegitta announces the addition of six new student athletes to this year’s recruiting class, including locals Mario Ramirez of De La Salle and Vikhar Samad from Haynes Academy. Including this latest round of recruits, men’s cross country/track will have a total of 16 new athletes for the 2011-12 season.
Ramirez joins the Wolfpack after spending much of his prep career on the football field, but Canegitta expects great things from the former Cavalier once he concentrates on track full-time.
“Mario will benefit from year-round training in track,” Canegitta said. “He has the potential to run a sub two minute in the 800 meters.”
New recruits also included Joshua Rivers of San Leandro High in Hayward, Ca., and Brian Briggs from Boston College High School in Boston, Ma.
