Cross country and track add three more to 2011 recruiting class
June 24, 2011
Loyola University New Orleans head cross country and track coach Andy Canegitta announced the addition of Mike Corso, Moises Perez and Casey Shaw to the 2011-12 team.
Corso comes to Loyola from St. John Neumann High School in Naples, Fla., where he was a four-year All-Area Honorable Mention by the Ft. Myers News Press and three time All-Area Honorable Mention by the Naples Daily News.
Corso was the district champion in the 800 meter and part of several successful relay teams in his career including the fifth best in the state in the 4 x 800m his sophomore season.
Perez joins the Wolfpack from Christopher Columbus High School in Miami and won the state title as a part of the 4 x 800m relay team. He was a national team qualifier for the Nike Cross Country Nationals in 2009 and first team All-Dade County in 2011.
Shaw was recruited from St. Pius X Catholic in Atlanta where he was an instrumental member of the St. Pius 2010 state champion cross country team.
"An already talented incoming class grew stronger with the addition of Casey, Mike and Moises. They have the potential to be great student-athletes and will have an immediate impact on our track and cross-country program. They bring championship experience, mental toughness, leadership and will improve our team performance in the SSAC," commented Canegitta.
