Daigle added to Champions of Character Team
May 6, 2011
Loyola University New Orleans catcher Steve Daigle, Jr. was honored by the Southern States Athletic Conference by being named to the Musco Lighting Champions of Character Team.
Daigle, a business management sophomore from Marrero, La., has been active in the community throughout his two years on the baseball team at Loyola. Both years he has worked with breast cancer research by volunteering at an awareness fundraiser walk at City Park. He was also part of the organizing team for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s local events while at Loyola.
Daigle has also been recognized for his work in the classroom and is a two-time recipient of Bronze Team honors at Loyola’s Scholar-Athlete Awards Ceremony.
On the field, Daigle is a powerful presence behind the plate. This season, Daigle threw out 31 percent of potential base stealers and his .977 fielding percentage was second on the team among players with at least 20 games played.
Players recognized on the Champions of Character Team are considered to be outstanding examples of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
