Brock named Louisiana Small College Player of the Year

April 26, 2011

Ryan Brock, a senior on Loyola University's men's basketball team, added to his season of accomplishments by being named the Louisiana Small College Player of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches.

Brock will be formally recognized by the LABC at the 37th Annual Awards Banquet on May 7. This marks the second time Brock won Player of the Year honors, after he earned the designation in 2009-10.

In what was one of the best seasons in Wolfpack history, Brock was the fourth-leading scorer in the nation in 2010-11, averaging 22.2 points per game. That average was also the fourth-best in a season at Loyola. Brock scored more than 25 points in 10 games. Known primarily for scoring, Brock also led Loyola in rebounds (5.1), assists (3.3) and steals (1.7) per game.

Brock finished his career with 1706 points, good for second all-time at Loyola. He averaged 21.1 points per game over three seasons, putting him third all-time in the Loyola record books.

Earlier in the year, Brock was named to the SSAC All-Conference and All-Tournament teams and to the All-Louisiana First Team. He was also the SSAC West Division Player of the Year and was added to the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball All-America Second Team.
