Wildes, Wolfpack get props from Times-Picayune editorial staff
April 15, 2011
Loyola President the Rev. Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., Ph.D., was highlighted in today’s paper for his work leading the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad's board governance reform committee. The editorial expressed “the need for reforms (to the Public Belt board) to better protect the public’s interest,” and mentioned the committee’s proposal to hire an internal auditor to help avoid excessive spending and to shrink the size of the board and its term limits.
The Loyola Wolfpack name controversy with North Carolina State University was featured yesterday in an editorial, “Something to howl about.” The editorial asserts that “there’s room in the world of college sports for at least two packs,” and mentions Loyola’s long history with the moniker and its storied past in college sports. It also mentions the differences between the two schools, their colors, mascots and logos.
