Loyola launches mobile device-friendly website

Blackberry, Android, and iPhone users now have a cleaner mobile view of the Loyola University New Orleans website. This week, the Office of Web Communications launched the university's first mobile-friendly website which caters to the most popular and most used mobile devices and features a pared-down, graphic-friendly version of www.loyno.edu. The effort was led by programmer Andy Forester and the site was designed by Sean Clark.
Last year, the Loyola website averaged about 100 visits a day via a mobile device, but in the past three months, it has averaged more than 500 visits a day. In one year’s time, there have been 110,000 visits and 206,479 pageviews. The new mobile site addresses this trend by presenting a simpler, more accessible version of the most popular sections of the main Loyola website for our mobile visitors.
According to Jacee Brown, web communications director, web traffic via mobile devices has dramatically increased in the past few years.
“We are experiencing a sort of mini mobile technological revolution as more and more devices are being produced and they are becoming more accessible to everyday users. By researching Loyola's site traffic statistics every month, we are seeing this trend play out in our own backyard.”
Any advanced mobile device that goes to www.loyno.edu will redirect automatically to m.loyno.edu. Visitors can get back to the main Loyola site by clicking on the "View Full Site" link in the footer. For more information, contact Brown at email@example.com.
