Music composer and pianist performs at Loyola

Pianist Amir Khosrowpour will present a recital at Loyola University New Orleans mixing traditional piano masterpieces with newly-composed and original works. The performance takes place Tuesday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Loyola’s Roussel Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Performed works include Sonata in C Major, Hob. XVI/48, by Franz Joseph Haydn; "Kreisleriana," Op. 16, by Robert Schumann; Piano Sonata, by Loyola music professor and composer William Horne; "Dance Town USA," by Khosrowpour; "Luminosity" by David Broome and "qsqsqsqsqqqqqqqq" for three toy pianos and electronics, by Tristan Perich.

Khosrowpour has appeared across the U.S. and China and has won numerous competitions, including the national title from the Music Teachers National Association young artists competition. As a composer, Khosrowpour has found success in the theatre as well as in the concert hall. As a company member of the actor’s company theater, he wrote music for their highly successful off-Broadway production of Alan Ayckbourne’s “Bedroom Farce,” among others. He is currently working with playwrights Jonathan Goldberg and Edith Freni on two musicals and is collaborating with dance choreographers Kathryn Wilkening, Susan Cherniak and Nicoll Orek on upcoming dance performances in New York City.
