Loyola descends on The Hive for some NBA action Monday night
January 21, 2011
Loyola University New Orleans and the New Orleans Hornets have partnered to present “Loyola Night at The Hive” Monday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. For just $10, Loyola students, faculty, staff or alumni can watch the Hornets take on NBA All-Star Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder, as well as receive a free Hornets t-shirt and transportation to and from the New Orleans Arena.
The event also includes pre-game entrance to “Buzz Fest,” starting at 5:30 p.m. outside The Hive which will feature live music, cheap food and $1 beer.
Transportation to and from Loyola is provided free of charge. Buses will leave Loyola at 5:15 p.m. for those wishing to attend the pre-game “Buzz Fest.” The last bus will leave campus at 6:15 p.m. For those missing the free ride to the arena, the St. Charles Streetcar drops passengers off on the corner of Carondelet and Girod streets, which is walking distance from the arena.
“This is an absolutely great deal,” said economics senior Kelly O’Leary, who bought his tickets on Thursday. “For 10 bucks you get a ticket to the game, a free ride, and a cool t-shirt – and entrance to the pre-game party. The entire Loyola community needs to get behind this, get their tickets and represent at The Hive.”
The SGA is also offering a $500 prize to the student organization that buys the most tickets.
Tickets can be purchased at the Jesuit Center, located in Bobet Hall, Room 110. For more information, contact Katrina Weschler at 504-865-2302.
