Gill named SSAC Volleyball Player of the Week

November 12, 2010

Loyola volleyball player Gina Gill was named Southern States Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading the Wolfpack to a 2-0 record for the week.

Gill, a junior from Baton Rouge, La., racked up 35 kills in Loyola’s shutout victories over SSAC opponents Mobile and Faulkner. She hit .403 with only six errors on 72 attempts. Gill also added an ace, two blocks, and 15 digs.

Following Loyola’s 3-0 win over Xavier on Monday, Gill finished the regular season with 631 kills, which ranks second all-time at Loyola for a single season. She only trails Loyola’s all-time kills leader Mary Seals, who tallied 695 in 2007.

Loyola (25-13) opens up the postseason against Southern Wesleyan at the SSAC Tournament on Nov. 12 in Gulfport, Miss., at 3:30 p.m.
