Yee ha! Loyola's going farm fresh
September 17, 2010
Loyola University New Orleans will now offer fresh, locally grown produce on campus through a partnership with Hollygrove Market and Farm.
On Fridays from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Peace Quad, a Hollygrove produce stand will offer a variety of produce, fresh juices, fruit ice pops and dried fruit.
Hollygrove will also offer pre-made produce boxes, designed to meet the weekly produce needs of two adults through a sample of home-grown seasonal produce.
The produce items within the boxes vary weekly and can be viewed by visiting the Hollygrove website or signing up for their weekly University Produce Delivery newsletter.
Boxes, which cost $25, must be pre-paid online through the Hollygrove website and will be available for pickup at Le Gourmet, located on the corner of Mayer Residence Hall on Tulane University’s campus, from 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. every Friday. All orders should be placed by 5 p.m. on the Thursday before pickup.
Established in 2008, Hollygrove Market and Farm has worked to provide local, affordable produce to the New Orleans’ community. The market was developed as a community-supported agriculture-style retail market in which consumers buy directly from a farmer. Hollygrove’s average grower is located only 65 miles from the market, in order to provide the community with the freshest produce. The market’s main location, 8301 Olive St., sells produce every Tuesday and Saturday.
