La Divina Gelateria opens at Loyola University
August 20, 2010
Dining Services at Loyola University New Orleans will offer a taste of Italy with the addition of La Divina to the university’s dining options.
La Divina, a local Italian sandwich and gelato restaurant, is scheduled to open Sunday, Aug. 22, with a grand opening scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 26. La Divina will be located on the first floor of Carrollton Residential Hall and will serve paninis, soups, salads, gelato and coffee using all local, fresh ingredients, which students can purchase using their Loyola Wolf Bucks.
To celebrate the grand opening, Loyola’s mascot Havoc will gather students to La Divina for a short dedication and ribbon cutting. Students will receive raffle tickets as they enter the gelateria and a chance to win an oil spill T-shirt, reusable mug and $20 in Wolf Bucks.
La Divina will give students late-night dining options during the school year with hours from 11 a.m. - midnight Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday.
La Divina will make Loyola its third home, in addition to its Magazine and St. Peter Street locations. The gelateria has received national recognition through exceptional reviews from the New York Post, Wikitravel and Chef John Besh, owner of Restaurant August, who said La Divina had "the best Italian ice cream and sorbet I've ever tasted."
