Loyola and Overture to the Cultural Season present art gala

August 20, 2010

Loyola University New Orleans College of Music and Fine Arts joins with Overture to the Cultural Season in presenting, “Célébration des Arts,” a celebration of the essence of New Orleans art, music, theatre, dance and creative writing. The event, to be held Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Hilton Riverside Hotel, is considered the official kickoff to the New Orleans cultural season and serves to raise funds for student scholarships and arts programming in the Greater New Orleans region.

“Célébration des Arts” begins at 7 p.m. with a patron party in the River Room and continues at 8 p.m. with a gala dinner dance and silent auction in the Napoleon Ballroom.

The gala includes cocktails, dinner buffet and dancing to live music by Philip Melancon and the Thank You Boys. Loyola students and faculty, including Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., dean of Loyola’s College of Music and Fine Arts, will also be on hand to exhibit art and give special performances highlighting several events from Loyola’s upcoming season of the Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series.

Tickets are $125 for the dance and silent auction, and $175 for those who want to attend the patron party as well. Sponsor tables are also available. To reserve tickets or sponsor a table, call Overture to the Cultural Season at 504-821-9300.

Now in its 52nd year, Overture to the Cultural Season is the umbrella organization for all the arts of New Orleans, including more than 50 arts member organizations.
