Loyola at a Glance
Orientation for international students begins Monday
August 20, 2010
The Center for International Education will hold mandatory orientation sessions for new degree-seeking international students next week. Students must attend both sessions on Monday, Aug. 23, from 9 – 11 a.m., and Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held in Mercy Hall, Room 301.
These sessions cover information that international students need to know, including U.S. academic life, the cross-cultural adjustment process, how to keep legal immigration status, life at Loyola and in New Orleans, and practical matters such as how to apply for a social security number or a bank account. The orientation also provides an opportunity for students to meet as they begin their Loyola experience.
All new degree-seeking international students are also required to register for and attend one of the Loyola Lagniappe sessions.
