The Loyola University New Orleans College of Business launched the Center for Spiritual Capital earlier this spring, directed by Nicholas Capaldi, Ph.D., the Legendre-Soulé Distinguished Chair in Business Ethics.
Moving to New Orleans can be an overwhelming experience in many ways for first-year students. For Izabela Gasparri, a freshman from Milwaukee, enrolling in a First-Year Experience class at Loyola University New Orleans helped make the transition easier.
The College of Music and Fine Arts recently announced Carol Rausch as the new director of Loyola Opera Theatre. As her first official production as director, Rausch and stage director Jay Jackson will lead a cast of singers in a single production of Ravel's "L'Enfant et les Sortilèges" Monday April 26, at 7:30 p.m.
Just over two weeks remain before the Class of 2010 takes the stage(s). Loyola will honor its graduating class in a unified ceremony on Saturday, May 8, at 10 a.m. in the Louisiana Superdome, and in a separate law ceremony on Wednesday, May 12, at 6 p.m. in the Morial Convention Center Auditorium.
The Loyola Ballet will celebrate National Dance Week with a performance featuring the "Prologue" from Tchaikovsky's ballet, "The Sleeping Beauty," contemporary works and traditional dances from Haiti in a concert tonight Friday, April 23, and Saturday, April 24, at 8 p.m., at Loyola University New Orleans.
The Loyola University New Orleans Department of Economics, along with the Institute for Humane Studies, will host "Weekend Exploring Liberty Conference" April 23-25 on Loyola's main campus.
The Loyola University New Orleans Department of Counseling increased its master's degree program from 54 to 60 hours, after approval by the University Courses and Curriculum Committee, which met on March 18.
Walter Cowan, a veteran New Orleans newspaperman who served as the first chair of the Loyola University New Orleans Department of Communications visiting committee, died earlier this month at the age of 98.
The Loyola University New Orleans Department of Athletics and Wellness will be hosting their 6th annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Ceremony on April 26.
