Business students and mentors meet in speedy network sessions
April 16, 2010
More than 160 first-year business students and 30 mentors will have the opportunity to meet in a professional setting at the Loyola University New Orleans College of Business Speed Networking Event on Thursday, April 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the Danna Student Center St. Charles Room.
Speed interviewing and networking has become increasingly popular in recent years as corporations and potential employees struggle to make numerous connections in a short time frame. Mentors from the COB’s Executive Mentoring Program will be on hand to coach students on how to project a professional appearance, work a room, and sell themselves in a professional environment. The program pairs every first-year business student with an individual business mentor at the beginning of the academic year. Students meet with mentors monthly to talk and receive advice about real-life work situations and their business studies.
Following the event, students will celebrate the end of their freshman year by eating ice cream donated by the New Orleans Ice Cream Company.
