The Loyola University New Orleans College of Law mediation team won the American Bar Association Representation in Mediation regional competition, earning them a trip to nationals in San Francisco April 7-8.
The team is comprised of third-year law students Krystle Ferbos and Brandon Harig and coached by students Paulina Davis and Yasmin Aklilu. They beat teams from the Universities of Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee to win the competition held at UNC-Chapel Hill March 13-14.
Another competing Loyola team, Laura Smith and Evelyn Bryant, coached by David Fink, won the first round of competition at UNC.
“The students’ hard work was evident in their fine performances,” said Denise Pilie, visiting assistant clinical professor in the College of Law and the team’s adviser. “I appreciate and thank them for their dedication and professionalism.”
