Center for Music and Arts Entrepreneurship launches new Web site

February 5, 2010

The Center for Music and Arts Entrepreneurship, housed at Loyola University New Orleans, has released a test version of its new Web site this week at http://www.cfmae.org.

The CFMAE represents a consortium of New Orleans schools including Loyola, University of New Orleans, Delgado Community College and Dillard University. The organization’s goal is to assist artists and arts entrepreneurs in creating sustainable careers by producing seminars and clinics and providing networking opportunities, tutorials and resources to aid Orleans Parish music, music entrepreneurship and arts education communities.

“We hope that the Web site will provide platforms for discussion and the sharing of information and ideas,” said John Snyder, center director and professor of music industry studies at Loyola. “We also hope that users take an opportunity to let us know what they think about it by providing suggestions for improvements, corrections and content creation.”

According to Snyder, content provided by the various CFMAE events and activities are recorded and made available at no charge on the CFMAE’s Web site.

“The update of the CFMAE’s site was critical at this time because all content produced is made available to the public,” Snyder said. “We’ve really focused on how to make the site as user-friendly and as accessible as possible by artists in our community.”

The CFMAE originally opened its doors in fall 2008 with the help of a $996,000 grant awarded by the Louisiana Board of Regents and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
