Loyola's Ryan Brock and Trenese Smith named Players of the Week

Brock, a 6-foot-3-inch junior forward from New Orleans, currently leads the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in scoring at 26.3 points per game. For the week, he averaged 30 points in the three games, including a career-high 42 points in Loyola’s double overtime victory over undefeated Lambuth. Brock shot an impressive 58.2 percent overall from the field, and also averaged 5.3 rebounds and 3 assists.
For the women, Smith led the Wolfpack to a 77-73 victory over No. 7 Lambuth University with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and made 6 of 9 attempts from behind the arc. She averaged 18.7 points in three contests this past week, while grabbing 4.3 rebounds. Smith, a 5-foot-8-inch senior guard/forward from LaPlace, La., shot 47.1 percent from the field, and 10 of 19 (52.6 percent) in three point attempts. Smith became Loyola’s all-time leading scorer last season, and is now only 13 points shy of the 2,000 point plateau.
The women’s team, ranked 21st, hosts No. 14 Columbia College (MO) on Dec. 5 in The Den. Tip-off for the game is at 2 p.m.
