Vocal studies professor honored at own masterclass

Philip Frohnmayer, the Rosa Freeman Wisdom Distinguished Professor of Opera and coordinator of vocal studies at Loyola University New Orleans, was honored by the University of Kentucky’s William Schmidt Foundation on Oct. 10. The ceremony, featuring a video presentation honoring Frohnmayer’s life and work, followed a masterclass he gave at the Young Artist Awards Competition in Lexington, Ky.
Frohnmayer has adjudicated for the Schmidt Foundation Young Artist Awards in Indiana, Kentucky and Florida for the past 12 years. The foundation is dedicated to the discovery and nurture of young vocal talent and provides financial aid for education in the arts.
