Moot court team reaches finals in international competition

The Loyola University New Orleans College of Law moot court team placed second overall in the John Marshall Law School International Moot Court Competition in Information Technology and Privacy Law last weekend in Chicago, Ill. The team was also awarded best petitioner’s brief. The brief will be published in The John Marshall Journal of Computer and Information Law.
The team consists of law students Megan Peterson, Tyler Rench and coach Kelly Stein and is advised by Monica Wallace, an associate professor with the College of Law.
The team competed against 32 other teams from across the United States, as well as several international teams. Over the three-day tournament, Loyola’s team advanced five times before arriving in the final round. Panels of judges included prominent members of the bench and bar, including Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly of the Michigan Supreme Court, Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Judge Duane Benton, from the U.S. Court of Appeals 8th Circuit and Judge Richard Cudahy, from the U.S. Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit.
The Loyola Moot Court Program endeavors to foster the art of appellate advocacy with responsiveness and enthusiasm through team advancement, academic support and community involvement, thereby enhancing national recognition and pride among its members.
