Bookstore begins renovations
July 31, 2009
Follett Higher Education Group, which began managing the Loyola University New Orleans Bookstore in May, has begun to renovate the store space in the Danna Student Center. Follet also plans to establish a satellite store near Flambeaux’s, located on the first floor of the Danna Student Center.
Until renovations are complete, students may order textbooks and other school supplies online at www.loyolano.bkstr.com and choose to have items shipped home or held for pickup at the bookstore when they arrive on campus in the fall. A temporary bookstore is currently housed in the lower level of the Danna Student Center, across from Satchmo’s. Normal hours of operation will begin on August 15, through the fall term.
Bookstore manager Ivon Fascio recommends, whether buying online or on campus, shopping early for best selection and increased availability of used books.
Plans in the store’s redesign incorporate more technology into bookstore operations and provide space for author readings and small group meetings. The bookstore will also offer fashion-forward and seasonal clothing lines and specialty items, promote fair-trade and sustainable and green products and use local merchants and wholesalers, where possible.
If you have questions about ordering your books online, please call the bookstore at 504-865-3262 or visit www.loyolano.bkstr.com for more information.
