July 10, 2009
Lacey Huxen is a local standout who played for head coach Dawn Curtis at John Curtis Christian High School in Jefferson, La. A 5-foot 6-inch outside hitter, she was named to the All-East Jefferson and All-District teams in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In addition, Huxen was named to the All-Metro team in 2007 and 2008, and also was selected to play in the LA All-Star match as a senior. She will compete for a spot as an outside hitter and libero for the Wolfpack.
Kari Price, a 6-foot outside hitter from Kansas City, Mo., joins the Wolfpack from St. Teresa’s Academy and Team KC volleyball club. Price is following in her sister Errin’s footsteps, who played for Loyola in the 2006 and 2007 seasons as a libero. She will compete for playing time as an outside or opposite hitter.
Samantha Worsham comes to Loyola from Mother McAuley High School in Chicago, Ill., as well as playing for the Chicago Juniors club team. A 5-foot 8-inch setter, Worsham recently led her club team to the USAV Nationals in Miami Beach, Fla. She will be expected to handle the setting duties for the Wolfpack this season.
Comments from Coach Harold: “I am extremely excited about the quality of this year’s recruiting class. The players are not only very skilled on the court but are excellent students and people. This group, along with the previously announced players and the returning players, should lead the Wolfpack to an exciting season. While the team will be young, the experience on the court that they bring will lead to some great competitions in practice and translate to a high level of play come game day. This will definitely be another exciting year in the Den.”
