Trenese Smith honored by Allstate Sugar Bowl

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has named Loyola University New Orleans’ Trenese Smith Outstanding Female Amateur Athlete for the greater New Orleans area.

Trenese Smith, who averaged 18.2 points this season, led Loyola to its third straight Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular season championship along with a third consecutive appearance in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Tournament.

Smith garnered several honors this past season. She was named third team NAIA All-American and was honored GCAC Player of the Year for the third time in her career. Smith was also named second team All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Smith became the Wolfpack’s all-time leading scorer this past season with 1,925 career points.
