Final installment of Prokofiev piano sonata series performed Tuesday

Professor and pianist John R. Murphy will present the final installment in his three-part series highlighting the piano sonatas of Sergei Prokofiev on Tuesday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m., in Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex on Loyola’s main campus. The concert can also be viewed live via webcast by visiting the College of Music and Fine Arts website at http://cmfa.loyno.edu/montage/webcast.
In this performance, Murphy will perform Sonata no. 8 in B-flat major, Op. 84; and Sonata no. 9 in C major, Op. 103.
Murphy has performed in many of the United States’ most distinguished musical centers. He was a student of famed pianists Ruth Slenczynska, Bela Siki and Gyorgy Sandor, to whom which this concert series is dedicated.
The performance is free and open to the public.
