Wolfpack's Smith twins named All-Louisiana

The Louisiana Sports Writers Association has selected Loyola’s Trenese and Trenell Smith to the 2009 All-Louisiana Women’s College Basketball Team. Trenese was selected to the second team while Trenell was named honorable mention.

Trenese, who made first team All-Louisiana last season, averaged 18.2 points for the year. She was also named third team All-American and GCAC Player of the Year. Trenese finished her junior season as the Wolfpack’s all-time leading career scorer with 1,925 points.

Trenell Smith was named honorable mention after averaging14.7 points for the year. She also made the All-GCAC team for the third time in her career, and received an All-American honorable mention.

The twins led Loyola to a 23-7 record, a third consecutive GCAC regular season championship and a third straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
