Alumnus to sign new book at University Bookstore

April 3, 2009

The Loyola University New Orleans Bookstore presents a book signing by author and Loyola alumnus Andrew Fox on Thursday, April 16, 12 – 2 p.m., in the University Bookstore, located in the Danna Student Center. Fox will be signing his latest title, “The Good Humor Man.”

Fox, a 1986 Arts and Sciences graduate and New Orleans resident, is the author of the comic novels, “Fat White Vampire Blues” and “Bride of the Fat White Vampire.”

The San Francisco Chronicle says of his first novel, “‘Fat White Vampire Blues’ by first-time novelist Andrew Fox, reads like a combination of Anne Rice’s ‘Interview With the Vampire’ and ‘A Confederacy of Dunces’ by John Kennedy Toole…an involving yarn full of strong local color, delightfully askew humor and memorable.”

His newest book is a tribute to Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451.” This surreal and futuristic narrative explores the highly topical relationships between obesity, government health care, pop culture and body image. In a world where chocolate is worth more than cocaine on the black market, government-sanctioned vigilantes known as “Good Humor Men” patrol the streets, seeking to destroy all fattening food products as if they were illegal contraband and summarily cancel the health insurance of any offenders.
