Loyola celebrates the Easter Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil

April 3, 2009

University Ministry in the Loyola University New Orleans Office of Mission and Ministry invites the university community to the celebration of the Easter Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil.

The Triduum, which means “three days,” is considered one liturgy for the holiest days of the year in Christianity. University Ministry will hold services each of the three nights, Thursday, April 9, Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m., in Ignatius Chapel in Bobet Hall. A potluck party follows the Easter Vigil on April 11.

There will not be Mass on Easter Sunday in Ignatius Chapel. Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on Loyola’s campus will celebrate Easter Mass on Sunday, April 12, at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

University Ministry’s mission is to serve the holistic education of Loyola students by attending to the faith, spiritual and religious formation of the university community.

For additional information on the Triduum, contact the Rev.Jim Caime, S.J., at 504-865-3595 or by e-mail at jncaime@loyno.edu.
