Loyola student pubs pick up national and regional awards, nominations
Loyola University student newspaper, The Maroon, and magazine, The Wolf, won five major national awards in March, and are nominated for an additional 13 honors at two journalism competitions.
Alumnus to sign new book at University Bookstore
The Loyola University Bookstore presents a book signing by author and Loyola alumnus Andrew Fox on Thursday, April 16, 12 – 2 p.m., in the University Bookstore, located in the Danna Student Center. Fox will be signing his latest title, "The Good Humor Man."
Students along the Mississippi Gulf Coast get jazzed by the Monk Institute
The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, the world's leading nonprofit jazz education organization, shared its "Jazz in the Classroom" educational program with hundreds of Mississippi Gulf Coast public school students today and yesterday.
Loyola presents film on Nobel Peace Prize winner
Loyola University Women's Resource Center, the Women's Studies and Environmental Studies departments, in conjunction with the Charitable Film Network and ITVS Community Cinema, will host a free screening of "Taking Root," a documentary about environmentalist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai, of Kenya.
2009 Yamauchi Lecture in Religion examines controversy of Church's role in Modernist-Era France
The Rev. Peter Bernardi, S.J., associate professor of religious studies in the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences, will be the featured presenter of the 2009 Yamauchi Lecture in Religion. This semiannual lecture seeks to bring the results of religious scholarship to a wider audience.
Loyola alumna receives grant for women entrepreneurs
Loyola University New Orleans alumna Sheryl Woodhouse-Keese, A'91, founder of Twisted Limb Paperworks, a sustainable paper manufacturer in Bloomington, Ind., is one of five recipients of fashion designer Eileen Fisher's fifth annual Business Grant Program for Women Entrepreneurs.
"Wheel of Fortune" pays off for law student
Plezetta West, a Loyola University New Orleans College of Law student, was a recent winner of "Wheel of Fortune," netting $120,050 for her efforts.
College of Law hosts annual Brendan Brown lecture
The College of Law will present its 2009 Brendan Brown Lecture on Wednesday, April 8, at 5 p.m., in Room 405. The lecturer this year is Jacques Ziller, professor of European Union Law at the University of Pavia in Italy, who will speak on "The Constitutionalization of the EU."
Commencement: faculty and administrative staff participation
Please let the Office of Public Affairs know of your ability to participate by completing the online Faculty-Staff Commencement Participation Form before April 17, 2009. Cap, gown and hood rentals may be handled through the Bookstore in the Danna Student Center prior to April 17 as well.
